Levees, Winter Clothes, Seafood, and Shadows

I actually drove around a bit on my own today. I managed to find a Fed-Ex office, a WalMart, a gas station, and a Captain D’s all by myself. I even found my way back to the hotel without getting lost once. While that may not seem like much, I figure it’s a step in the right direction.
While I was at WalMart I bought a giant street map of Cincinnati and the surrounding area. I am going to keep that thing glued to my side at all times for awhile.
In Tampa almost all of the roads run East-West or North-South. Here in Cincinnati the roads seem to twist and turn willy-nilly all over the place. Normally I have a pretty good sense of direction, but I think it is going to need some time to get adjusted.
I had to find a Fed-Ex office to mail my daughter some winter baby clothes. From what I have been told, Hurricane Wilma pretty much destroyed fall in Florida and brought winter in with her. The temperatures are in the 40’s and 50’s which is positively frigid for that area. Of course Tampa has no real warm baby clothes so my daughter sent me an SOS yesterday. Ap0k and I went out last night and bought the warmest clothes we could find. The poor baby is too little to be that cold already. Knowing Florida’s weather, it will probably be back in the 80’s by next week.
Tonight Ap0k took me to a place in Newport, Kentucky for dinner. There is an area of town called The Levees and if you are ever in the Cincinnati area I highly recommend going there. It has a movie theater, shops, restaurants, an aquarium, and a very nice river walk. First we went to a place called Mitchell’s Seafood and had without a doubt the best dinner I have ever eaten. From beginning to end it was amazing. Of course we stuffed ourselves silly so after dinner we went for a walk along the river. The only thing that separates Cincinnati and Kentucky is the Ohio River. From the Kentucky side, the view of downtown Cincinnati is simply stunning. I wish I had taken my camera with me. I plan on going back soon if only to take pictures at night. Our walk was fabulous. There is a good nip in the air, but the skies are as clear as can be. We ended up walking a pretty good distance too. I had an absolutely wonderful time. As Ap0k said, it was like a vacation in the middle of the week. It is definitely something we will be doing again.
After all of that we stopped off at Ap0k’s workplace to say hello to the guys who work at night. The man who runs the warehouse seems like a really nice guy. Actually, they all seemed pretty nice.
As soon as we got back to the hotel Ap0k fell sound asleep. I guess all that food and freah air after working all day takes it’s toll on you.

I am reading a new book called “Wicked – The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maguire. I am only on page 60 of 490 and I can already say that this is one of the most bizarre books I have ever read. Yes, it really is the life story of the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz. If you are up for a unique read, give this a shot. So far it is really good.

Ap0k and I were discussing to day whether we should rent a house or an apartment. I would love to go the apartment route because for the same money as a house you can get an apartment that kicks major ass. The only problem is where to put his car. It’s hard to find an apartment that has both a garage and accepts cats. I miss Tippy!!!!!!!!!!!
My little sister said Tippy must be mad at me now because he has kicked everything on my desk on to the floor. As soon as I find a house I will go get him! I know he’s just a cat, but he has been my shadow since he was born. I need my shadow back.
