Are You Packed And Ready To Go?
I just got the word….Ap0k has accepted the job in Ohio.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. Now there should be no more anxiety attacks. I don’t have all of the details yet; I just got a quick Nextel call from him telling me he had accepted the offer. I will get more in-depth information when he gets home tonight.
I admit that I am terribly excited. I’ve lived in this house for 12 years and in this neighborhood for since I was 14. I think a complete change of scenery will do us good.
I am also a bit scared I guess. Being that I have always lived here, moving to somewhere else entirely is a bit daunting. Here I can drive anywhere I want without even thinking about it. I know where all of the roads are, where they go, and what’s on them. Going from that to not knowing where anything is will prove to be a bit of a challenge I think. But hey, I’m up for it!
This is a great opportunity for him. The responsibilities will be greater, but he has already proven that he can run a DC so that won’t be a problem. The money will be better too of course. They offered him a nice sum for the first year which is going to allow us to both keep this house here and buy another one up there too. We are going to rent this house to my little sister for the time being.
I will miss my family of course, but I think I will be ok. I just got off the phone with my father and he said he is going to set up a website for all of us to post pictures on. I don’t think my dad is very happy. He sounded a bit upset. But like I told him, airplanes make the trip back and forth from Ohio to Florida several times a day. My mom doesn’t sound upset in the slightest, but then again she rarely does.
As for friends, Ap0k and I are very solitary people. All of the people I really talk to are “internet friends” and all of them are going with me. That’s the beauty of the internet. When you have to move you just pack it in a box and take it with you.
Several months ago I bought new sets of matching dishes, glasses, pans, containers, and utensils. I always wondered why I had never gotten them out of their boxes before. Well now I know! When I move I will have all new stuff!!! I will leave all of my old stuff for my sister so she won’t have to worry about it either.
Yes, the more I think of it, the more I am looking forward to moving. We will most definitely rent a house first. I want to get a feel for the area before we plonk the money down on something permanent.
So many things to think about now!!!
And Ap0k, I am VERY proud of you. You are still very young, and with what you have managed to accomplish already I know that great things are in our future. I love you.
