Brickhouse

I consider Rob Zombie to be my second husband. Hey, a girl can dream can’t she?
I picked a song today that combines the talents of Rob Zombie and Lionel Ritchie with a little Trina thrown in for good measure.

“Brickhouse 2003” was released on the House Of 1000 Corpses OST (the movie that marked the directorial debut of Rob Zombie.)
The song was originally released as just plain “Brickhouse” on the Commodores 1977 album Commodores. In 1993 The Commodores, minus Lionel Ritchie, re-released the song as “Brickhouse 93”, but it was pretty much just a lame cover of the original. “Brickhouse 2003” on the other hand, has a depth to the music that was missing from the original. Plus Rob Zombie co-leading on the vocals doesn’t hurt.

Rob Zombie (born Robert Cummings in ’66) was the lead singer for the metal group White Zombie from 1985-1998. I doubt there are many people who haven’t heard “More Human Than Human” or “Thunderkiss ‘65” (nineteen sixty fiiiiiiiiiiiive YEAH!) at some point or another. During his time with White Zombie, Rob was also a bike messenger, a porn magazine art director, and a production assistant for the CLASSIC show Pee-Wee’s Playhouse.
While White Zombie did well as a group, Rob disbanded the group when his first solo album Hellbilly Deluxe sold more copies in it’s first week then any White Zombie album had in total. Smart move on his part I would say.
Rob has released several albums that have all sold VERY well. Songs such as “Dragula” and “Living Dead Girl” are still played on the radio consistently. He has also released several White Zombie songs on his solo albums, upping the quality considerably.

House of 1000 Corpses was Rob’s first real foray into movie making. One of the stars of the movie, Sheri Moon, is actually Mrs. Zombie. They were married in 1992. Along with starring in the movie, Sheri was also one of Rob’s dancers, was the cover girl for his album “American Made Music To Strip By”, and has been in every one of his solo music videos. It seems that he likes to have her close to him! Needless to say, Sheri is also one of the stars of Rob’s upcoming movie The Devil’s Rejects. No word yet on if she is going to be in his third movie “El Superbeasto”.
After visiting Rob’s website, make sure to check out his Blog too.

Here is Rob looking mighty fine!

Rob looking scary, but still fine as hell!

Rob with wife Sheri Moon. She is gorgeous!

Lionel Ritchie was the original lead singer for The Commodores, one of the original supergroups of the 70’s and 80’s. Lionel also has a massive solo career. For all of you young people out there, Lionel is Nicole Ritchie’s adopted-father. Remember the episode of The Simple Life where they are driving down the road and a song comes on the radio and Nicole starts squealing “It’s my daddy!!”? Well, this is him. You remember the song that goes, “You’re once, twice, three times a lady”? That’s him too.
“Brickhouse 2003” would not have been the same without him!

Lionell showing of his adorable chipmunk cheeks.

Trina provides the girly bits to Brickhouse 2003. Trina is a “rapper” and has released 2 solo albums, along with guesting on NUMEROUS other artists projects. I really like her, but I can’t help thinking that most of the time she looks like a transvestite hooker.

Trina at her prettiest.

I hope you like the song. It’s a cross between my favorite, funk, and your favorite (according to the poll), rock. This way we can all be happy.
