Where Have You Been?

I haven’t seen you in days!
I keep meaning to write, but every time I seem to get sidetracked by something. Usually that something is something silly too.
TCRF has been eating up a lot of my time. The new forum software is still very buggy and needs fussed with several times a day. I’ve been rebuilding the member list at least twice a day because people keep disappearing from it. We can’t for the life of us figure out what the problem is so we’ve turned to the yABB support forum for help. Unfortunately no one seems to be able to figure it out yet either. Another odd thing is that every few days the post totals go completely off. Rebuilding the message index fixes it right up. Some people have asked if we are running out of server space, but we have plenty left so that can’t be the problem. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix these problems, please let me know.

I’ve been uploading and posting a lot of movies lately. If you aren’t a member of TCRF or Kostas Forum you can check out a few of them by going to Leatherpuppetz movie blog linked over on the left. I’ve posted several of them there. All of the movies posts include preview pictures so you won’t be downloading blind. You can also find a lot of my uploads here: http://special2.urdx.com/mkportal/blog/cyber2nd.html

I saw the funniest thing the other day! I was at Wal-Mart (the greatest store on earth) getting groceries and when I was leaving there was a lady bringing in a purchase for return. The lady was HUGE! She was shorter than me and weighed at least 350 pounds minimum. The funny thing was what she was returning. An unopened box containing a stair stepper! She never even opened the box so of course she never gave it a chance. It made me wonder if she bought it herself and then changed her mind, or did someone else buy it for her? Was someone trying to send her a message?

Ap0k and I had a very nice weekend even though we never left the house. Sometimes it’s nice to just hang out together with no outside interference. We napped off and on, watched a few movies and crap TV shows, and ate WAY too much. Tomorrow I am back on my diet! For some reason I always eat too much when Ap0k is around.

Our daughter has moved from Florida to Tennessee, so now instead of being 14 hours away she is only 5 ½ hours away. Hopefully I will get to see her and the baby sometime in the near future. My little sister is still trying to find a way to come up to visit around April. She has to get the time off of work first. I am hoping to send for my nephew sometime during the summer. My parents had said they would come up too, but so far I haven’t heard any word on that. In all honesty though, everyone would probably be happiest if they waited until it warms up a tad before they come to visit. I want to take them to the zoo, to Sharon Woods, and to Newport at night. Right now it’s still too cold to do all that.

Hope that all of you had a good weekend!

Life Is Good

I like this area more and more by the day.
I am learning where more things are and I am finding my way around by myself much easier. Google maps are definitely a big help!
I am also getting used to the weather. It was only 23F today, but in all honesty I really wasn’t very cold. I was actually excited to see it snow the other day too. That’s a big improvement for me.
I am still a horrible insomniac. Tonight I slept from 8:30pm until 10:00pm. It’s now almost 1:30am and I am wide awake. I’ve been getting most of my sleep after Ap0k goes to work in the morning, but since I am the only one home and no one wants me for anything at all I don’t see it as a problem.
I’ve been getting a lot of uploading and posting done lately. If you visit TCRF you probably know that already though. After I finish this I will hit the newsgroups to see if I can find anything interesting to post tomorrow. What an odd hobby posting porn is for a 40 year old woman! Ap0k thinks it’s funny, but I’m his source so he can’t laugh too much.

Saturday Ap0k took me to a mall I hadn’t been to yet. It was HUGE. I was good though and only bought a tray of candles. Today was another story though. Ap0k needed new shoes so after work we ran down to the mall that’s only about a mile away. By the time we left he had his shoes, but I also had two pairs of shoes and two pairs of jeans. The shoes I feel guilty about because I already had two pairs at home I’ve never really worn, but the pants I really needed. I have lost enough weight now that all of my pants are literally falling off of me. The size I bought today is the smallest I have had in about 15 years! And yes, I was tickled to death when I tried them on and found out that they actually fit me. I still have a ways to go, but I think I am making fabulous progress.

Also on Saturday Ap0k took me to a “new to me” restaurant called “Joe’s Crab Shack.” They are in several different states and if you’ve never been, I highly recommend it. The seafood is without a doubt the best I have ever had. It’s a fun, loud, lively place that just puts you in a good mood. I had the broiled seafood platter and it was to die for! Also try the double dipper appetizer. It is two different chip dips, one crab, and the other lobster and crawfish. As you can tell, I plan on going back again soon.
We had originally planned on going to Magianno’s, but there was a two and a half hour wait! Who waits for two and a half hours for dinner??? I’m glad it was that busy though because I enjoyed the other place much more.

Yes, I must say that life is good!

Did you also know that Clapton was supposed to be on the ill-fated helicopter flight that killed Stevie Ray Vaughan and Clapton’s manager? He gave up his seat to Vaughan.

Did you know that Rod Stewart was supposed to be the lead singer of the The Kinks? After a few weeks of practicing the band realized it wouldn’t work and they got Ray Davies to take the position instead.

Did you know that not only was Marty Robbins a country music legend, he was also an avid race car driver? He raced in the NASCAR series between 1966 and 1982 and his best year was 1974 when he finished 5th at Michigan and 9th at Talladega. Will They Ever Get It Right?

Three days ago we were under a snow warning. The county salted the roads like there was a major ice storm coming. That system went several hundred miles north of us and we didn’t get a flake.
Last night and this morning we were under a snow warning again, but the system went south of us. Today was absolutely beautiful. The skies were crystal blue and the sun was shining brighter than I’ve seen it in months.
Finally they lifted the snow warning and guess what?
It snowed tonight.

Slyly Disturbed

I am disturbed, no, more like horrified.
I just saw Sly Stone on the Grammy Awards and it was truly frightening.
First off, a man that old with a giant white mohawk is enough to catch your attention for sure. I loved the jacket he was wearing.

The disturbing thing was, Sly no longer lives in the same world that the rest of us do. He was standing in front of his keyboard, but was just making jabbing motions at it. They accidentally showed him from the side once and you could see he was not only not playing, he was just kind of pointing at the keys. He was also not singing. They were playing an old recording of his and he wasn't even mouthing the words.
All of a sudden, he just wandered off the stage.

It was one of the most sadly disturbing things I have ever seen. Doing a tribute to him was a great idea yes, but I don't think they should have brought him out on stage. It pretty much closes the career on a true legend on a low note.

The Smell Of Old Paperbacks

I have found one of the greatest used book stores on the planet!
It’s called “Half-Price Books” and is part of a small chain. There are 3 within driving distance here, so I am now a happy camper. There is an extreme lack of used book stores in Ohio. That is really odd to me because in Florida they are all over the place.

I am a used book store fan to the extreme. Most of you know that the books I prefer were all written and published between 1940 through 1970. Of course you can’t go to Barnes & Noble to pick up books like that. Sometimes you will see reprints, but that is not what I am looking for. I want the originals in all of their pulpy glory. I want the lurid covers and I want the smell that only old paperbacks have. That smell is like an aphrodisiac to me. New books have either a bland nothing smell, or worse yet, a chemical smell. Old books, especially paperbacks, smell like time. I’m not sure if that makes sense, but heck, I know what I mean.

I spent quite a bit of time in the store. I found two large bags of books and only spent $68! The whole deal of the store is that no book costs more than half of the cover price, including new releases. A book can be one week old, but if someone came in yesterday to trade it in then you only pay half price. I bought Andrew Vaachs newest book in hardcover for only $14. How can you not love that? I was also able to find a bunch of paperbacks from my preferred years and none were over $3, in fact most only cost $1. I was in heaven! I will be making many more trips to this store!

I have more good news. I have lost a total of 16 pounds! While of course it took getting sick to get me started, I am very proud of the fact that I have kept the weight loss up. I have quit drinking soda all day. I try to drink no more than one a day. That’s a big deal considering I was drinking 4-5 a day before. I drink mainly water now. I have also stopped eating fast food all of the time. I was eating at McDonalds, Taco Bell, etc several times a week, but now I try to keep it to no more than one fast food meal a week. I am also not cleaning my plate at dinner just because there is food on it. When I am not hungry anymore I stop eating! I am quite happy because now I can put my knees on my chest without squashing all the air out of me. LOL!

The big 3 inches of snow we were supposed to get over the weekend ended up being pretty much of a dud. The ground was too warm so it melted as soon as it hit the ground.

Yesterday we went to the mall, a couple furniture stores, WalMart, and Taco Bell. Our main reason for going to the mall was to trade in our cable box for an HD model. There was a guy working there that had the funniest hair I have seen in quite awhile. This poor deluded man had a bald mullet! The top of his head was completely bald and he had the old man ring of hair trimmed neatly around his ears. Unfortunately he also had long hair in the back! I’m sure he thought it made him look younger and cooler, but actually it just made him look silly. We went to the furniture stores because we are looking for the perfect coffee table. I refuse to settle on second best and will only fork over the cash when I find the one I am looking for. It needs to be triangular in shape with a black glass top. The body of the table need to be made of cherry wood and metal with a brushed nickel finish. I want this because that is what the whole entertainment center and audio rack are made of. Here is a question, because entertainment centers are such an integral of the design of a living room, why don’t the builders make matching coffee and end tables? When we bought the two large pieces I would not have hesitated to buy the matching components if they had been available.

I have been horrible about updating this lately haven’t I?

TCRF Has A Whole New Look!

It’s finally done! Well, almost.

The Cutting Room Floor has finally been upgraded and has a whole new look. Please take a look and let me know what you think of it.

Trader worked for quite awhile on the main template, and then La Chienne de la Nuit, Nautleyriver, Napier, and I worked like mad people trying to work all of the kinks and bugs out. We had to set up all of the contributor and benefactor status’s by hand which seemed to take forever. There was a problem with some of the test posts (we made a zillion of them) not opening and it took us three days to figure that one out! It ended up being a bug in the forum coding that for some reason locked posts shut if they had clickable links in them. Once I turned off “live linking” all of the locked posts opened. Now the real funny thing is, if you use the yABB tags to make the links clickable, the posts are fine. Not sure what is going on there, because enabling live linking just puts the tags in automatically for you. Odd to say the least.

We had a problem getting the posts to transfer over so most of the posters are working on reposting their movies on the new forum. We have also been making large posts for the major posters that contain links to all of their live files on the old forum.

When we first went live with the new forum it looked so empty, but in 24 hours we managed to get FOUR pages of movie posts alone. That was fantastic to see.

There are still a few things that need worked out. We need to add a “sort by” feature, and we need to add coding to the template to make visited links change color. Other than that everything seems to be working pretty good, and everyone seems to really like the new design and the new features.

You know, when you stop to think that all of us are spread so far apart, it really is amazing how well it all worked out.
La Chienne de la Nuit lives in Australia, Nautleyriver lives in Canada, and Napier, Trader, and I live in completely different sections of the US. That we can all work together over IRC to come up with something so complex is really quite neat.

I want to thank everyone for all of their hard work. I also want to thank eggman for all his work on the new name gifs, and all of his suggestions for the new forum. You guys all kick some major ass!

I also want to thank all of the posters. Without you guys, TCRF would be an empty boring forum. Trust me, I know how hard it is to find the movies, make the previews, and upload the files. It can be a real bitch sometimes, but you guys keep on going and going.
Major props to all of you!

And to the repliers….while most of the posters aren’t looking for any recognition, it is still nice to get your replies. It makes the work involved in posting worth it to know that people appreciate it. Just a word of thanks, a joke, or a nice comment here and there, makes a poster continue on with what they are doing. Thanks guys!

As for you lurkers, I see you out there you know! And now not only can I see that you are logged in, I can also see who is looking at what post. It only takes a couple seconds to make a thank you reply. Come on, join in! We won’t bite you, I promise.

If you have any suggestions for the forum, either PM me there, leave me a message here, or you can email me.

I hope you like the new forum!
